5  RULES FOR AMAZON SEARCH TERMS YOU NEVER NEED TO MISS

Do you know that 66% of U.S Amazon users start their search on Amazon, ahead of search engines (20%) and brand websites (4%)?

Well, what about the search terms? Amazon search terms are keywords that shoppers use to find your products.

While in Amazon other than the title, description, and bullet points you can place the keywords on the backend of your listing.

But, before that, you need to know the Amazon search term guidelines to draw your visitors to your listing.

AMAZON SEARCH TERM GUIDELINES YOU NEED TO KNOW

1. CHARACTER LIMIT

First, do your research and find the most important keywords for your product and make use of the 250 characters wisely.

Backend search terms field is limited to 250 bytes excluding spaces and punctuation. Don’t know how to figure out the exact length of the words.

Go by typing the search terms till you get the red error message and after that, you will be able to save your changes.

That error message will let you know that you’ve exceeded the 250 character limit in the Search Terms field line.

2. PUNCTUATION

Don’t go with punctuation such as: “;”, “:”, “-” . Punctuation is unnecessary and just uses up your character space.

But to avoid inconsistencies you can use spaces to separate words. Go by using spaces instead of using comma because it really has a negative influence on your search terms.

3. REPEAT KEYWORDS

Focus on relevant search terms only. Don’t need to repeat keywords that are already placed on the title, bullet points, and product description.

Don’t go by duplicating keywords which will only waste your space.

All upper and lowercase keywords, and singular and plural forms of the same keyword, shouldn’t be added.

If the word is spelled differently in American and British English, then you can add both. Also, you can add synonyms and even spelling variations.

4. BRAND NAME

If you’re selling your own brand on Amazon you’re not allowed to add that (your brand name) in the search term field.

Also, don’t include other brand names, product names, compatible product names, ASINs, UPC codes, or other product identifiers.

5. DON’T USE THESE WORDS

Don’t include statements that are only temporarily true, e.g., “new,” “on sale,” “available now.”

And don’t include subjective claims such as amazing, good quality, etc., as most customers don’t use it in their queries.

Also, don’t include terms that are abusive or offensive in nature.

At last, don’t use stop words such as “a,” “an,” “and,” “by,” “for,” “of,” “the,” “with,” and so on.

CONCLUSION
